YWA Speaks: Toastmasters Presents TED Talks

Description

The Young Women’s Alliance (YWA) is a nonprofit organization devoted to the professional and personal development of women leaders in Central Texas. For more than 30 years, YWA has been a staple in the Austin community, driven by our four pillars: lead, educate, network, and serve. 


Get ready for a night that's all about unleashing ideas and celebrating the power of your voice! In lieu of an external speaker this month, we will be welcoming our own YWA member speakers to the stage! We will host TEDTalks featuring YWA members who will share stories and passions in 5-7 minutes to captivate you and make every second count.

And who's critiquing these talks? The fantastic crew from YWA Toastmasters Leadership will evaluate the submissions using the proven Toastmasters Speech Evaluation Criteria.


The top FIVE  finalists will take the stage at KMFA on May 15th for a chance to win! 


1st Place: $100 

2nd Place: $75

3rd Place: $50

4th & 5th Place: $25 each


How do we decide the winners? 

It will be a mix of evaluation from our panel of judges and an audience vote! Yep, you get to have a say in who wins!

  • Location: KMFA, 41 Navasota Street, Austin, TX 78702
    • Parking is free and located under and next to the main building. 
  • Food & Drinks: A beautiful grazing table with be provided by Shaking & Baking. As well as wine and non-alcoholoic options. 
  • Dress Code: Come as you are

In order to allow for better planning and to provide our members with higher quality programming, we are implementing a no-show policy. All events have limited capacity, so if you registered and are unable to attend we ask that you please unregister within 48h. All no-shows or late cancellations will be charged an automatic $15 no-show fee. Thank you for your understanding and collaboration as we work to provide you with the quality of programming you deserve!
